I love the energy that my students bring to our room. They are determined to be their best every single day. Watching them grow and learn this year has been a pleasure. My students never fail to bring a smile to my face and brighten my day. I appreciate their sweet and sassy insights, and I am always blown away by how much they take in during a lesson. I always end up learning something right along with them, which is very neat.
It is no secret that reading takes practice. In our classroom, we have tried to foster a love for reading by first starting with picture books. Picture books allow students to instantly practice the skill that we are studying each week. I would like to adopt the "picture book a day" practice. By reading a common book to the class, we are building classroom community and solidifying our understanding of the skillls covered in class.
These books will foster a love for reading and provide a foundation for the skills that are covered in class.
The longer stories will build reading stamina and encourage students to practice what they have already learned this year.
