My class is the perfect mix of students from all different backgrounds, abilities, and interests. While some are strong readers, others are still mastering letter recognition and sounds. Similarly, some students have excelled at mathematical concepts and practices, yet others are still trying to identify numerals one through ten. Although their skills fall all across the spectrum, one thing they ALL have in common is their love for school, learning, and life!
In the classroom inclusion and a sense of community is just as important as education!
We work together to keep the room safe and harmonious, we celebrate one another and our differences, and we always strive to lift others up with kind words. Even though at times some may struggle with the curriculum, getting along, and following directions, one thing I can count on from this vivacious and curious group of children is that they never give up! They are the future!
As we near our 100th day of school, I find our supplies need a major revamping. This group of children love to read but our library is lacking in reading material. We could really use some books that meet the levels, needs, and interests of all students. I have rummaged my library at home and ordered from scholastic, but we still need more!
It has been found that "if a child reads for just twenty minutes a day, they will hear a total of one million words a day!"
To ensure our students are reading in school, as well as at their home, we need to make sure we have a wide selection of books they can put in their book baggies. Please help me get books for the classroom as well as some supplies to keep on learning as we near the 100th day of school!
