I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a rural Wisconsin school. These students know each other very well, as most of them have been learning and growing together since kindergarten. We are a part of a preK-12 campus, and my middle school students often have to share resource time with the high school. This oftentimes leaves them with a lack of technology to engage fully in the types of technologically advanced activities we can. However, my students strive to succeed in all they do.
My Project
Steven King once said, "books are uniquely portable magic" and I want to allow a few more slices of magic to enter my classroom through the use to more higher-quality books in my classroom. In my ELA room, I require students to engage in multiple books talks throughout the school year.
By having more books available in my classroom, students will have more choices of high demand books to read and deliver books talks on.
Throughout the year I collect data from my students on books they want to read but don't have access too and these are the books I would love to have in my classroom.
