Help me give my students some fiction and non-fiction books that will improve their reading skills. My class also needs 24 headphones to read digital books during class and be fully engaged without distractions.
I teach 1st grade in a Dual Immersion elementary school. Our school is classified as a Title 1 school, which means our student population has a high percentages of children from low-income families. Many times my students do not have enough resources or materials at home to complete assignments or further their educational journey. More than half of my students are English language learners that come from diverse backgrounds.
I have a wonderful group of excited, inquisitive students that enjoy reading.
I am preparing my amazing group of 1st graders to learn to read so that they can later on read to learn.
These engaging reading materials will continue to enhance the collection of books that will be added to my classroom library. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy and request to be in constantly. They have a quiet space in the corner of the room where they can read on the carpet or choose a bean bag or a selection of seat cushions to choose from to relax and read. My student treat all of the class books with love and care and they are thankful for the resources they have to be able to read. The books are chosen with the reading abilities and needs of all of my students. Students will be able to choose books of their own interests and at their skill level to keep them engaged and excited about reading and learning.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
Not only will they be able to read books in our classroom library, but they will be able to read digital books on their computers with the help of headphones. The headphones allows them to read without distractions and keeps my students fully engaged.
