This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 4th grade in Indiana. I love what I do so much and I'm always trying to find new ways to increase rigor in my room. I have many students who are living at the lower end of poverty. The parents are amazing, and they always want to help but it can be difficult when you have limited resources. Our school provides supplies for all students, but that takes away from any extra funds I receive to get other things my students many need. Thanks for taking the time to read more about me and my class.
My Project
I love when I see a kid pick up a book and get lost. This year my kids love to read. I asked them to make a list of books they wanted to read and then made this list from that. I have lots of books but need to get some new updated sets. Students will use these books daily during our independent reading time. We do the 40 book challenge. Students read 40 books throughout the year and complete a review of each book. They also complete book reports and some will be used for read aloud. Thanks for helping me make reading so much fun.
