My students need books, books, and more books. My third graders need high interest non-fiction and fiction books to encourage and sustain their love for reading!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third grade students are full of enthusiasm, a love for learning and are grateful for any additional supports that will help them succeed in school.
My students are phenomenal students in an urban school district.
My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what we will do that day despite challenges they may face outside of school. They know and believe that everything they are learning will help them prepare for a better future and are grateful for any additional help.
My Project
Third graders are at the age where they are becoming stronger readers and this means they are reading a variety of books, both fiction and non-fiction. For some students, they aren't as likely to pick up a book unless it has a flashy cover or a topic they are interested in.
A collection of high-interest fiction and non-fiction books at different levels will inspire my students to read more and sustain a love for reading!
A variety of texts will help all my readers become successful readers. Early chapter books will encourage my stronger readers to pursue their love of reading. Series like I Survived, National Geographic, Tales from the the Black Lagoon, and Step into Reading will be great additions to our classroom library!
