My students need a variety of books to read to maintain their interest in reading. My students are now becoming fluent readers and need more books to read.
Our first-grade classroom is filled with lots of smiles and an eagerness to learn! My 22 students come from different socio-economic backgrounds. Our community lacks business to provide jobs for our community members. Most of the students come from low socio-economic backgrounds, but education is important to all the families. Our school is the base of the community.
My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.
They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers. They are our future, and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
My Project
My students need more engaging books to read. As the students are becoming fluent readers, they are looking for more appealing and engaging titles to read. The students will use the books in class to practice fluency and comprehension of what they are reading.
Comprehension is so important after fluency.
Many of the students are reading fluently so now they need to work on the comprehension piece of learning. When the students have more engaging topics to choose from then they will increase their compression. The students will be so excited to see new books to read and increase their comprehension.
