Our school is located on a military base, with most students being dependents of US Navy personnel. Teaching dependents of military service members mean our classrooms are like revolving doors throughout the school year. These families constantly have to move or continue with everyday life with an integral member of their household gone on deployment or detachments. Although it never gets easier whatever age one might be, for kindergarteners its even harder. Kindergarten is often the first school experience for many of these students. For every new student I get, and the ones I have the pleasure of teaching all year, I try to keep some form of structure in their lives for the times that there may not be.
My Project
Each year, my students are more amazing than the class before them. I am extremely proud of how much growth my students are making this school year, both academically and socially. As their teacher, I will do everything in my power to continue encouraging their success.
One of the focuses of kindergarten relies heavily on setting up the foundational skills to create readers.
I would really love to not only have all of my students able to read by the end of the school year, but in books they find interesting.
Unfortunately, I am not able to do this on my own. My students and I need your help!
