Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from an urban area with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing multiple life issues. This can be difficult for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well being first and foremost.
They are enthusiastic, ambitious, and motivated learners.
I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in a classroom environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences.
My Project
Books are an important part of my classroom, and I wish for my students to have books that are meaningful and relevant for their age. You can never go wrong with the masterful author and illustrator, Dr. Seuss. I have requested his colorful rhyming book, "There's a Wocket in My Pocket" for each of my students. My students are at the age where they need to hear and see words in a book that are used frequently in stories and everyday language, as well as become familiar with rhyming words, and Dr. Seuss' books are the perfect fit for my young students.
Books take your mind to a variety of places with words and vivid illustrations like no other.
Character education has become an integral part of the classroom day at all grade levels. My students are young, so it's important that they are aware of the best ways to handle different situations and how positive character traits like being kind leads to a healthier classroom environment for them. I will like my students to create their own character education book from what they have learned and experienced. The laminating sheets will be used to protect their student created books, so that they can be read, shared, and observed by all in the class.
