Do you love going to the library or book store and choosing books to read? My boys and girls do too! In our classroom we choose new books to read each week.
We are a classroom of twenty-six hard-working, inquisitive, and energetic first and second grade students in a Montessori-based public school.
We love to read and learn about everything! We read everything we can get our hands on! We are very excited to receive new books!
My Project
Through ongoing assessment, each child receives an independent reading level. Books are then placed in leveled tubs or crates for the children to chose from. On the first day of the week, children chose books for their individual tubs. We use these books for our daily Read to Self/Silent Reading time. I am requesting leveled nonfiction readers or informational text to add to these tubs. Currently students have a large selection of fiction materials with a small selection of informational text to choose from. Your donation would add five nonfiction or informational texts to each tub.
We know the importance of children reading at their independent reading levels.
We also know how important it is for them to read both fiction and nonfiction. Your donation will give students more opportunities to read nonfiction text at their independent reading levels.
