Did you ever have "family game night"? Did you cheer when someone landed on your property and had to fork over the money? What about when you had to pay up...were you kind or did you get a lesson in sportsmanship?
My students love to be creative in our makerspace at school.
I am the media specialist at a K-5 elementary school. I am always on the lookout for new ways to tap into their creativity as well as help them grow socially and emotionally.
In our fast paced society, some of our students don't take the time to play board games. They're missing out on a fun way to learn valuable life skills.
I would love for my students to design board games based on their favorite books.
They can work together to creatively design games in our school's makerspace. These games would then be available for other students to play in the media center.
So many social and emotional skills can be practiced in the making and the playing of these new board games. Another bonus is that the games might inspire students to learn about new books and authors.
