Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 25 absolutely amazing 3rd grade students. This is my second year teaching and I consider myself lucky to be their teacher. We are in a low income area and each of my students has their own set of obstacles to overcome. Every one of them has a different story and it has been my job to understand it. We have a wide range of abilities in our group. There are 5 English learners, one speech student, and 3 still learning to read.
My goal each and every day is to bring joy to my students lives.
I know that for some of my students, school is a refuge. I take my job very serious to provide a safe, fun, warm environment the students want to be in. We work daily on creating a classroom community that is supportive and encouraging. I love seeing them be excited for each other and their achievements. I am lucky to have such a caring group of students.
My Project
My students have a broad range of reading levels and many are below grade level. I have a difficult time providing books for all of my students abilities. I would like to provide books so all of my students can build their love of reading.
My students this year love reading.
I cannot keep enough books in our classroom! They read up any and all books I bring in. A large portion of my students are reading at a second grade level. This set of books would provide them more books at their level and allow them to practice the skills that we are learning daily. It is a teachers dream to have a room full of students who love reading!
