Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a class of kindergarten students on the Autism spectrum. My students are thoughtful, fun-loving and inquisitive young learners. They come to school every day ready to learn with smiles on their faces.
I provide my students with individualized instruction in the areas of academics, social skills, and behavioral development.
Learning is customized and individualized so that all of my students have access to the support they need to grow and develop both in school and out of school.
My Project
Children learn so about themselves and the world around them through books. Children's books can be mirrors that reflect their own culture, identify and experiences, and windows that allow them to view the word from a new point of view.
The following is a list of wonderful picture books containing disability representation.
These books tell wonderfully rich stories about children and adults with disabilities. In some books, disabilities are central to the story. Other books show disability representation without making disabilities central to the plot.
These books will be used for class read alouds throughout distance learning, and when we eventually return to an in-person school model.
