Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
New Orleans is the most musical city in America. My kids are always so excited to play instruments, sing, and learn any and everything about music. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds including a large group that only speaks Spanish.
I was able to teach for a total of 3 weeks before the school shut down due to Hurricane Ida.
Those 3 weeks were such an incredible and eye-opening experience for me as a first-year teacher.
I am so excited to finally be back in the classroom with my students and teach them as much as I can to grow their musical knowledge.
My Project
Our school just recently created a general music program and we need all the help we can get to give the students access to as much musical materials as possible! We recently started a music library and would love somewhere to display our books. We have books about instruments and musicians from numerous genres and from all over the world. The students are loving our reading corner, but I think it needs a makeover with a bookshelf. Additionally, we are in need of some classroom supplies including markers, and dry erase pockets to display student work.
Your contribution to our music library would mean the world!
