My Students
These kids come in at the beginning of the year with high expectations. Some are able to read a little, and some are just able to blend words. They are all eager to learn, and they especially want to read.
It's my joy to watch them grow this year and learn as they begin to become independent readers. We begin the year by looking at books and talking about books and how important reading is. As the year progresses, they begin to become independent readers, and this is a very exciting time.
My Project
My students need more up-to-date and interesting reading material in our classroom. Right now, our reading material is older, and some of it is falling apart.
The kids who are non-readers right now love to look at books with bright pictures and make up stories about the pages they are reading. They will soon begin to read independently, and I would love for them to have new books to explore. First grade is an exciting time to learn and grow. These books have been chosen just for our level, and we will take great care of our new items.
