My students need 22 copies of Fish in a Tree and 5 copies of each book in the Ember Series. Being able to hold and read a book is the best way to enjoy it!

My Students

My students are amazing military kids! Our school is located on a military base and services only active-duty families. Not only do my students face the challenges of having to move and start over every few years, but also the stress of being separated from loved ones during deployments. Many of my students have already attended several elementary schools during their early school careers. As their challenges and needs are unique, my goal is to create a safe and student-centered classroom that supports them academically, socially, and emotionally.

My Project

The copies of the books, Fish in a Tree and the Book of Ember Series, will foster a love of reading as students will be able to hold them their hands. There is nothing like reading and turning the pages of a new book and then feeling a sense of accomplishment when you've read the last page.

Giving students books that ignite their imagination and spirit is how we, as teachers, nurture literate children!

My students love when I read aloud to them. These books will allow them to follow along as I read, to reread independently, and to read and discuss ideas and thoughts with their literature groups.
