My Students
My 8th graders come from all walks of life. They range from special education students who struggle to read at a 3rd or 4th-grade level to advanced learners who push me to meet their needs and abilities.
My students are curious and funny and willing to work hard to learn new things and to get good grades so that they feel successful. They are aware of what is happening in our world. They are excited to start high school where I see many becoming strong leaders.
My Project
Our newer classroom had a bunch of empty bookshelves. We've been trying to add a few books to the shelves each year so that our students had some good choices and so that they did not need to leave the classroom to find a great book.
As we look to offer our students some time every day to read, we need to have more popular books from great authors to choose from so that they don't need to leave the classroom to get them.
By slowly filling our classroom bookshelves, we can offer some incredible book choices and get our students really excited to read which will improve their reading skills.
