My students are dreamers, problem-solvers, and likely, the most creative little people you will ever meet. They are a happy group of first graders who love school and love to learn.
We are the home of the STARS where my students' economic situations are just as varied as their family dynamics.
We have military families with a local National Guard unit in our area and an Air Force base close by. We aim to take good care of our military families. Our district includes an Indian Reservation and we have a high population of Hispanic students, many of whom have family members who work in the agricultural industry. It is so rewarding to teach, whether I am helping a gifted student learn, one coping with ADHD learn, or anything in between. I feel like I have the best job ever!
My Project
Previous classes have had great success with these Brain Quest books at home. They cover a variety of subject and skills the children should know including addition, subtraction, counting money, and place value. The children enjoy them, because they get to set goals to accomplish the tasks inside and then earn rewards for a completing them.
Another project we have done for several years is creating artwork and turning it into a plate.
The children take the template home and design their plate. They are always amazed when an actual plate comes back. Due to Covid, I would like to start on these plates earlier this year. They were so delayed last year, that the children didn't get them until summer time.
Thank you for supporting my readers, writers, mathematicians, and artists!
