Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I teach love their school, teachers, and community and are motivated to learn. They come from many different backgrounds and life experiences and despite the challenges they may face at home. They come to school excited and ready to take on anything that comes their way. This elementary school is a Title I school and over 76% of students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. The students truly appreciate the little things that many of us take for granted.

My Project

The addition of new books for your school library supports all of the Nevada K-12 Library Standards for Information Literacy. Students will use the library to build their knowledge, practice their reading skills.

Students will be not only build their knowledge but will also learn that reading can also be for enjoyment.

With these new books, the library and the lessons support the Library Standard, Foundational Standard 1 - INQUIRE: Build new knowledge by inquiring, thinking critically, identifying problems, and developing strategies for solving problems. The diverse collection of new books also supports Foundational Standard 2 - INCLUDE: Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity in the learning community.
