I teach in a Title I school in South Carolina. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Around 40% of our students come from non-English speaking homes, which puts them at a disadvantage when learning to read and write. Most of our students' families also lack the resources to provide books and other educational supplies for their children to use at home.
Despite their economic disadvantages, my students are eager to learn how to read and write.
They love experiencing new texts that they can read at school and take home to share with their families. My students enjoy reading, and I want to ensure that they will continue to read and learn throughout their lives.
This set of F&P leveled readers will help my students progress as readers. The collection includes both fiction and nonfiction books so that students have a variety of books to choose from. The books will be added to our classroom library that students visit daily.
By having continuous access to books fosters a love for reading and helps my students develop as readers.
This set of books will be used in individual student book boxes. Students will use the books for both independent reading and partner reading time. These books will help add variety to their books and encourage their desire to read.
