My students need a set of class books to learn about Isaac Newton and reference books on magnetism, as well as compasses to explore magnetism.

My Students

My classroom is filled with curious, wonder-filled students who love to learn about science.

They enjoy hands-on activities and experiments.

Many of my students love to read, but there are others who are struggling readers who have yet to develop the same passion for opening up a good book. I am hoping that I can develop their passion for reading by learning about a famous scientist!

My Project

In a typical classroom, the teacher will read a chapter book aloud to the students. While this is an enjoyable activity, the students are not able to follow along with the words. So they are missing out on reading the book themselves. I am hoping to put a book in each of my students hands, so they can follow along and we can read the book together as a team! They will be reading a biography about Sir Isaac Newton and books about magnets, which will connect to our upcoming unit on force and motion. I would also like to put a compass in each of my students hands so they can experience navigating the cardinal directions first hand. This will also tie into our force and motion unit, as they will be able to understand how our Earth is a giant magnet!
