My Students
I teach in a school were majority of the students come from a low-income family. With one year under my belt, one thing that I've noticed is that beside all the many challenges these students face, they all have a passion for reading. My students are always excited to get their little hands on any new books that I put in our class library. Their favorite right now is Judy B Jones.
All of the students here are book-loving, innovative, smart and spontaneous learners.
Books are truly important to my students! They allow my students to explore new things: genres, adventures, cultures and much more. For some of my kiddos, the only chance they get of reading a book is when they're in school. My goal is to make sure that they have a vast variety of books to fulfill their love for reading.
My Project
All of the items I've asked for in this project are books to make our classroom library complete. These books focus on a variety of skills my students must have in order to become successful readers. For example, The Car Washing Street focuses on comprehension, The Paperboy is for fluency, Dirt on My Shirt helps with phonics, Finklehopper Frog will be used for phonemic awareness, and Bad Kitty vocabulary.
By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve these skills but give my student more enjoyable and exciting books to read.
My students will be able to read these books during stations, early completion of work, and to take home and enjoy. Reading helps my students expand their understanding of the world and stimulate their imagination. My students will also become more familiar with words, and knowing the value of books.
