As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My students are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers, and artists.
My Project
When you look at the calendar this time of year you see many holidays listed, but my students can only name Christmas and maybe one other holiday. The winter months are filled with so many holidays from cultures all over the world, but my students don’t know about them. Students learn so much from reading books and from having books read to them.
These books will help my students learn about other winter holidays celebrated in different cultures around the world.
Having books about different cultures and holidays will help my students grow up more rounded with an understanding of other holidays that are celebrated in the winter months.
