Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The most important person in the room is not the teacher. The teacher could not do her job without her students in the room. The student is the most important person in the room. Our fourth grade students come from all backgrounds and abilities. Some students are learning how to build the components of a robot while others are still trying to find the right words to write a story. They love to learn and are eager to try new things.
Some of my students come from backgrounds that make school the only place that they feel safe and/or loved.
They value their education and strive for greatness even when their resources and disposition are not ideal. I teach in a pair so I have 45 students total. Each of them are unique and require different things to succeed. The things my students are learning is important but the things they teach me are equally influential.
My Project
These books will enhance the reinforcement of math concepts through good literature. My students love to read and being able to see math interpreted through a story makes it relatable and easily understood.
These books will help uneasy mathematicians blossom!
Math can be intimidating with so many numbers and rules. But, books are fun! They teach concepts without students even realizing they are practicing geometry, measurement, or even algebra! Having a substantial classroom library with books relevant to the content will change the whole way our class functions. We will be able to see the topics covered in class come to life in the pages of a book.
