Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Gilbert students participate in projects for the creative arts. Our school mission is to integrate creative arts into learning. The DonorsChoose.org project literature posted here will be used by students to enjoy classroom with literature about a diverse group of activitists, community leaders and person from diverse cultures.

A magical encounter occurs when using a variety of literature in the classroom. Picture books in the classroom are a vehicle for language and concept development, creative expression, and the development of higher thinking skills while promoting the joy of reading. These particular books were selected to make a diverse group of folks visible to my classroom students, as well as to provide experiences for a range of cultures. These books will broaden the horizons of all children in our 1st grade classroom.
My Project
Building a respect for differences and positive identities means integrating lesson on diversity into the fabric of children's classroom lives. Working with families is an important first step in helping children accept, understand, and value their rich and varied world.
Vegas is diverse and wonderful place!
Students should experience a wide variety of literature showing a diverse fabric of individuals who make the world a better place. Building a classroom library which students can access daily to read and enjoy picture books about a range of folks who improve and lead in our country is important to my students and families.
