Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hola! Ni-hao! Yiassou! Ciao! I teach ELL (English Language Learner) students from 15 different countries of various English language levels. At our school, we believe everyone can achieve the American Dream. My students are very eager to learn and I want to do everything I can to help them meet their potential. Our school is a Title I school with many students not having internet access or living at the poverty level. More than half of my students do not speak English and most were fully remote last year. Many are now entering school for the first time since March of 2020.
My Project
The bookcases in my classroom are over 20 years old without any shelves. I cannot organize a library because there are no shelves to put the baskets on. The books are not displayed in a manner to help students choose books for independent reading.
A new bookcase cabinet with sections will be a wonderful way for my students to see the different STEM books available to them.
I want to be able to organize the books in a manner that is appealing and interesting to the students. This would be a great addition to our classroom.
