My students need novel sets to enhance their reading and language arts skills.
This project expired on August 12, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our school serves students in grade K-5. It is a Title I school, where all students are offered free breakfast, and approximately 95% of the students receive free lunch. The parents are hard working, but still struggle to survive. Therefore, the students suffer when it comes to school supplies or helping out the classroom with supplies.
I teach Fifth graders that are either gifted or high achieving students.
The students are given an intensive alternative curriculum, in order to push them even harder throughout the year. My classroom lacks many supplies that students need to make it a conducive learning environment where they can shine.
We are asking for class sets of two books. The Lemonade War and Freak The Mighty are great reads for elementary students. They are exciting, some humor, and engaging reads for the students. These novels will be used in a whole group reading. The students will read with partners, silently, and with the teacher while pulling apart and understanding what they are reading. Students will also develop new vocabulary from the novels.
Donating to this project will help build our library for a larger selection for the students.
Students will have the opportunity to read different genres throughout the school year. This will help broaden their understanding of literature across the board.
