Help me give my students another place to store our classroom independent reading books for easier access to a variety of different titles at their independent reading levels. Our last space filled up quickly!
My students are a diverse group of eager second-grade learners. They work hard each day to further their learning and strive to do their own personal best.
My students work as a team and care about the learning of others by showing respect and care towards their peers.
Often times they work with partners and/or small groups in the classroom. I'm so very proud of them each and every day and feel extremely fortunate that I have the privilege of teaching them.
My Project
I have built up my classroom library to include many different genres of books at various levels to continue to foster the love of reading in the learners I have the pleasure to work with each year. Although I do have to retire some well-loved books from time to time, I still have a large collection of both picture books and chapter books for my students to choose from.
It can be difficult for the students to have access to all the books because storing a large number of books too closely together, often leads to blocking access to many of these books.
I am in need of a new bookshelf with wide and deep shelves to accommodate my leveled tubs of books for easier student access to all the titles. I've grown to have great pride in the classroom library that I've built as I feel it's one of the tools that inspires my students each year to grow their love of reading. With this new bookshelf, I know that they will be able to easily trade-in books they've read for new books independently and often.
