Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school is a Title I inner city school, with a culturally diverse student population. The students come to the library because they love to read and are always looking for the newest titles.
Most of our students rely on the school library to have books for pleasure reading.
Many students come from homes where English is not the primary language. As library teacher, I am fortunate to get to know and interact with all our wonderful students from pre-kindergarten up till grade 8.
My Project
The books I am requesting are mostly to replace worn out books. The Harry Potter series and Dr.Seuss books are so often read they are falling apart and need replacement. These new books will continue to enhance my library collection.
My library is a place where students love to come to read and check out books.
They are thankful to have a variety of books available to them.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own level. The best way to encourage independent reading is to give my students books they want to read!
