My Students

My 3rd grade students are enthusiastic and excited to learn. These 8-9 year olds love reading books and are proud of their growing independence with reading. Most of my students are English language learners and they may not have a lot of books at home in English. So, they need exposure to plenty of books to help develop their English literacy skills.

I love to have a library full of books for different reading levels and give them plenty of time to read each day.

My Project

My students love to read. Every day they have a chance to select books from our classroom library. They are also assigned books that are exactly on their reading level and get books from the school library each week. The students need a safe place to store all these books throughout the week. Storing their books in bins also helps our classroom stay organized which is essential for a smooth running day full of learning. Students will carry their personal book bins to their desks or take them to the rug for independent reading time. I've used cardboard magazine holders in the past but they don't last longer than one year with all the student use.

These durable bins will be used over many years by multiple classrooms of students.
