My students are 30 third graders in a large, urban school district in Ohio. They come from a variety of socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. They come to school eager to learn and explore new things. They love experiencing new texts and authors during interactive read-aloud and our literacy block. The books we read always lead to wonderful discussions.
My students love learning, reading, and playing cooperative games.
They love to learn about others and themselves. Our neighborhood has a diverse mix of cultures and families.
My students love to read. Over the years I have amassed a large collection of books for our classroom library- many in part thanks to the generous donors of DonorsChoose.org!
We need a durable storage bench to store the books in our classroom library.
This storage bench will also provide flexible seating when students are at the carpet area for instruction. Many of the book shelves we currently have are nearing the end of their life span and need to be replaced. This storage bench will help transform my classroom library into an inviting place to go and hunt for the next great book. They will help keep our books neat and organized so we can focus on becoming better readers and writers, as well as provide a comfortable seating option.
