Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

If someone walked into my 3rd grade classroom they would be welcomed in to a room full of students who love to read. My 29 students have embraced the challenge of chapter books and fallen in love with story books again and again. Being a first year teacher I started the year with a small classroom library. Through DonorsChoose I was able to get many wonderful new books for my students. My newest wish has come from my students. My students always ask me if they can organize our bookshelf because they say that it is too hard to find the books that are most interesting to them. My current bookshelf is hard to keep organized and is comprised of tattered crates. I am requesting a tall, rotating stand for my classroom. This bookstand would enable my students to keep their beloved books organized and safe and allow them to choose appropriate and interesting books for themselves. My students' wishes would be granted if I was awarded this grant and I know that they will become even better readers because they will be able to further engage themselves in the love and appreciation of books.
