My Students
This is my first year at a new school, and I am teaching a large group of fifth graders. I love fifth graders because they are becoming much more aware of the world around them. They are beginning to want more independence, but they are still looking for someone to guide them.
I absolutely love teaching this group of students; seeing their love of learning and their own character development take place brings me so much fulfillment.

My Project
Everyone would love reading if they could just find the right book for them. I love these 2 series - Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Amulet - because they are hands down, THE most requested books in my classroom. They can't wait to read these books, even my students who have professed a hatred for reading.
These books will help ignite the "love of reading" spark.
In turn, reading helps students increase comprehension skills and fluency. Perhaps more importantly, it helps students experience someone else's world, see how they face problems, and provides another outlet when life gets hard.
