Our students at McClure are a wonderful bunch of kids. They are curious and excited to learn and grow academically.
A primary part of our educational program at McClure is teaching our students to have a love of literature.
We teach and apply reading skills to our everyday school life, as well as seeing where reading can take our students on amazing adventures. Our students participate in daily guided reading where they read books on their level to help improve their reading skills. Watching their faces light up when they get exposed to new literature is wonderful. Many of our students come from lower income homes. They sometimes do not have access to a wide variety of literature. Books can take them on journeys.
My students need new guide reading books level E in our book room so we can provide them exposure to quality literature. As a school, we provide guided reading to our students at their reading level. Often times, we are limited in our ability to provide this because of our lack of resources. Currently, our book room is very outdated, and we have a limited variety of books on different levels. This makes it difficult to foster a love of reading and adequately give or students what they need. We want to take our students on fantastic adventures that their home life doesn't always allow for them. We would like to purchase new books for our students so we can help create lifelong lovers of reading.
