My second-grade class is made up of students with diverse abilities, and are eager to learn. Some of my students are just learning to read and are behind due to the loss of in-person learning during the pandemic, while others are eager to expand their reading skills.
My students share that excitement and joy of in person learning by working hard to meet their academic goals as well as the opportunity to work together with one another.
In addition, my students benefit from in person learning which helps to develop their promotes social-emotional wellness after being isolated during the pandemic.
My Project
These books will help bridge student learning gaps by building on my students' skills to build and expand their progress in reading. The books will support the Nevada Academic Content Standards for asking and answering questions from both fiction and non-fiction text in reading for second grade. The book themes will also help students' social and emotional well-being as my students enjoy participating in class discussions about literature. My students will be thrilled to see new and engaging book titles in their classroom library as they select books on their reading level.
