My Students

This is a new year and our students are ready to read. I have 3 Intensive Reading classes and I would love to get them reading. The classes are made up of struggling readers that need to learn to read for enjoyment.

The students are 7th graders and in their first year of middle school.

This is an important and challenging year for them and I hope to help them love to read. I am excited to help them explore some new books.

My Project

Freak the Mighty and Maniac Magee are great books to teach struggling readers that reading can be fun. They will be engaged as we read the books together as a class. The novel study will help them to learn strategies and literacy skills to become better readers.

Students will keep a reading response notebook while we read each book.

This will be used for different responses and to help them keep track of their reading. This is a great way for me to know that they understand the book and that they are understanding the reading process. I am excited to get started with these books.
