This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love going to the library to find a good book. I love that the books are organized so it is easy to find the one I'm looking for. I wish that my students would think that about my classroom library.
Most of my third graders love to read.
We have the Accelerated Reading program at our school and I am excited to say that we just went web based. That means we now have more test available for the students to read for. Which is great for my classroom library, because now I can add more AR books to it. I have spent some time organizing my books by AR independent reading levels. The students like when they open the book and see the level, but they do not like when they have to search through the grade level book box to find their IR level.
My Project
This project will help create an IR level organized classroom library. For each book bin will be an IR level. That way the students will know exactly where to find their level book. This will cut down on time spent looking through the books. I think this will also create an enthusiasm for reading from the classroom library.
This project will greatly improve the book organization in my room.
I believe it will encourage independent reading among all my students. The students and I will love knowing exactly where to find the book we are looking for.
