This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Young students are very curious about books and love to look at the pictures even when they pretend to read the words. They make up the cutest stories.
I teach in an economically disadvantaged school.
Most all the children are on free lunch and come from very low income families. They usually come to school with very little prior knowledge and I have to get them from 0 - 10 in nine months so to speak.
My Project
It is important that books are always at the students' disposal so they can enjoy going and choosing a book to read. Having a book shelf will allow me to keep a variety of books out at all times. Having the book baskets will allow me to pick and choose certain books to place at their tables to choose from when we are studying a particular subject.
Instilling a love of books at a young age is imperative.
These supplies will make it easier for them to want to go to the book nook and explore the joy of reading and using their imaginations.
