My Students

Looking for that just right book can be so exciting! However, looking for that just right book while sitting on a cold, tile floor leaves something to be desired. That something is a nice, comfy sitting block!

I am the media specialist at a small, rural K-8 school located in NE Alabama.

Our media center serves approximately 220 students who are energetic readers. They are excited to come to the library every day to look for new and exciting books to read next! Since our library budget has been cut to zero the last four years, our students and I work hard for new books through grants, fundraisers and collecting box tops and soup labels.

My Project

I strive to make our library as warm and inviting as possible so that our students will know that they are welcome and can be comfortable while looking for just the right book. Our shelves are low to the ground in our picture book section to accommodate our smaller students. That means that many times, while browsing for books, our students' only option is to sit on the cold tile floor. I would love to have comfortable seating for them near the shelves so they can sit comfortably while taking their time looking through the pages of a wonderful book!

I want looking for that just-right book to be a warm and cozy experience for our students.

The cold, tile floor just isn't cutting it for them! Please help me enrich their reading experience by donating to this great cause!
