My students are in a Collaborative Team Teaching classroom in a high-needs, Title I school. The children in my classroom are inquisitive and joyful! We absolutely love them and want them to have the best resources to thrive.
Our students are a combination of general education students and students with special needs.
Our students are making rapid progress in their reading development but are in need of higher level texts to continue challenging themselves. They love reading chapter books and learning about the world!
My Project
We currently have broken and torn books in our library. Throughout the day my students ask if I can tape their broken books back together. Recently, a lot of my students have moved up reading levels. However, there are not enough books in the library for them to choose from.
To make their reading experience better, I want to add new books to their just-right level bins.
My students will be more inclined to read if the books are not broken and have tape all over them. In order for them to make more progress, they need to practice reading from their just-right level. However, they do not have enough books in their book baggies due to the damage of our current library.
