This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine walking into a public library and instead of book shelves the books are in piles around the building. While most of my classroom library is organized and easily accessible my accumulation of new books have no home.

Our school is over 90% free or reduced lunch.

We live in a rural area and have a large ELL and Migrant population. Getting to a library is near impossible for most families and classroom libraries and school libraries are the only access our students have to books.

My Project

I am requesting a mobile book cart and book bins so that I may better organized my classroom library and have a place to store my growing classroom library. I also need more student book organizers due to the increase in class size that came with new legislation.

Last school year I saw an amazing increase in my students' interest in reading and ownership in their reading choices.

When students can easily select good fit books and keep a few choices close by they will read more.
