Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious and eager to ask questions on the linguistic reasons for Spanish grammar rules. They have already made great strides in overcoming their fears to speak in Spanish. I especially love when they are eager to volunteer.

My Project

These books would be to add to the classroom library so that students have a place to find books in Spanish easily and for free. Students could also read these during free time or study hall. La casa en Mango street would be used for a project during our poetry unit on creating a poem on their names. We use the chapter Mi nombre to start exploring the value of our names and how the way people pronounce or view our name can affect us. At the end of the unit students finalized poems are made into books (like our own classroom yearbook) and preformed as a poetry slam.
