My students need many copies of books to have a book club. I try and pick great books that the students are not picking up on the library. When these books are introduced to the students, they are more willing to look at other books they have not read before.

My students love book club. They love the chance to read a good book with their friends and then talk about the book with me over lunch. Their insights into books are amazing. Each time that I have had book club, there is always one students that surprises me on their insight into the characters in the book. As soon as the book club ends, I have students that want to start again immediately. They all want to learn and please so much!
My Project
I am asking for multiple copies of 8 different books. I am asking for Sea of Monster(book 2 in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series, I have done book club of the first book), Gregor the Overlander(first in a great series of books), The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane(great book), and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (great first book in a series) for grades 4 through 6. For grades 2 and 3 I want Judy Moody (great book, first in series), The Littles(great book, first in series), Eve of the Emperor Penguin(Magic Treehouse series), and Poppy(first book in a great series)
Reading is so important for students.
It is the way that teachers want them to learn. The more a student reads, the more the student knows! I am trying to give my students the love of reading. Book club is a great way for students to get to read. They get to read with their friends and get to discuss the books with me. There is nothing better than sharing a good book.
