Help me give my students literary book sets for Number the Stars and The Wednesday Wars, new journals to foster personal growth, and post it tools to follow along and annotate their reading.
"If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
My classroom consists of a diverse group of middle school students with many different needs who love to investigate, create and learn.
As a special education teacher, it is my job to provide opportunities for all students to learn in different ways to meet their diverse learning needs. It is important that my instruction includes audio, visual, and kinesthetic aspects enabling all students to access information. Although my students have many learning challenges, they are eager to learn and become better students in math, science, social studies, and English language arts.
My Project
My students are reluctant readers. Often, their learning disabilities make reading difficult. Even so, my students are enthusiastic about learning and have a growth mindset. They never give up!
Imagine literature book clubs with two great books, The Wednesday Wars and Number the Stars.
Imagine a journal that will help a student build effective work habits and a growth mindset.
Students will be able to access the grade level literature with these book sets and improve their writing in their journals. This project also includes a variety of Post It pads so that students can bookmark pages and annotate evidence. Imagine students even using the notes to just find reasons to enjoy in their reading.
Your donations will help students become more fluent readers!
