Help me give my students "The Miseducation of Cameron Post" and other books for a gift of young adult reading they can read, relate to, and discuss as a club!
The KKHS Global Book Club is growing and we need to supplement the books that we gratefully received! Students are curious bookworms who love to read a variety of books and discuss the reading's relevance to global contexts! The club consists of students from all grade levels. Above all else, students build reading lists and socialize with exuberant enthusiasm about books! We aim to read at least one book per month. We read all genres with a focus on global issues and also books from AP/PSAT/SAT/ACT reading lists. This student-founded and student-run club aim to perpetuate the love of reading in high school and to supplement academic reading lists for students who love to read and discuss books with friends. Students also gather outside of school hours to watch movie versions of books they read as a club. DonorsChoose has allowed us to thrive during the pandemic because every student receives their own copy of the book. Once we finish reading, students who don't get attached to the book donate their copy to our school library for other school community students to also enjoy.
My Project
Our club has grown exponentially this year, and our collections are begging to meet the needs of our club. This project will entice young readers and allow each member to be provided with a copy of their own book. When we are done reading, students choose to donate their copy to our school library so that other students can share in the reading. Some students don't have the privilege of a home library and truly value the gift of having a copy of their own. Thank you for supporting this project and gift of reading for my students.
