My Students

The fifth grade learners in our building are exceptional and eager to learn. Our students come from very low income families, but love the opportunity to learn and do something new. Our students work hard and do their best every day, and I want all the students who want to participate in my book club to have the chance to do so. I was shocked and thrilled so many students were interested in joining the book club, and do not want any of them to be excluded based on financial need.

My Project

Our school is an urban school and the majority of our students are well below grade level in their reading skills. I have started a book club for our 5th grade classes, and the school found enough funds to pay for the a set of the first book in the series, however we do not have enough for the second and third books of the series. Many of the students that have joined the book club would have to drop out because their parents would not be able to purchase the books for them either if we can't provide them. I am requesting copies of the next two books, The Raven God and Kalifus Rising, and enough copies of each for all students in the club.
