My Students
A quote that guides my teaching reads; "One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank nor what my cloths looked like BUT the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child."
My school is a National School of Character.
This title says a lot about the students in my school, and specifically the students in my classroom. My fifth grade class is always eager for a new adventure whether it is a new research project, reading a new book, or learning a new method in math. My students like to work together and make discoveries.
My Project
Every year my students engage in discussions while reading books. These books clubs promote literacy and discussion among peers.
This year I have student activists in my class.
I have seen my students stand up for what is right and just in our classroom and community.
I would like to expand our book club books this year to include books that relate to social justice and activism. I already have some books that meet this need but would like some new additions for my students to choose from.
Students will work in groups of 3-5 to read, discuss, and act upon their books.
