As it is, many inner city schools have a hard time providing enough books for their students. When the books that are available get constantly knocked around and destroyed or misplaced, it makes keeping up with student needs that much harder. I teach second grade and have watched books that were brand new be destroyed by messy desks, disorganized students and rats. I would like a centralized and protective place to keep not my entire library, but each student's weekly book selections. I need a place where books are safely organized and accessible. One place where they are safely returned everyday, mobile to different places in the classroom and far enough from the ground to keep from pesky rodents. The students could use this reading center to have ownership over their books, yet have a safe place to return them and keep them separate from items that are going home. Thank you for considering this proposal.
