This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 14 bright and wonderful 2nd grade students. They are always excited and eager to learn. They love hands-on learning activities. These students are working hard to build relationships with one another and build an encouraging community.
Each child learns differently and I would love being able to cater to each of their individual needs.
My students are engaged in personalized learning activities, meaning each assignment can be tailored to the student to best meet their specific needs. Students are also engaged in Talent Development Academy, a program that provides support to teachers in order to be able to implement a rigorous curriculum for all students.
My Project
As a first year teacher, many of the books in my classroom library have been passed down by other teachers. This means that most of these books are outdated or uninteresting to current students. These titles offer a wide variety for my very diverse class. Many of my students continue to choose the same book to read because it is familiar or easy, I want to challenge my students to push their fluency and understanding of text. My students are very engaged in reading and I want to help them continue this love. With these books I can not help with reading but teach valuable lessons. I have picked books I know will interest them and will help push them as readers!
With the addition of the books to my library I can help expand my kids love of reading!
