My Students
I teach in an preschool through 5th grade elementary school in Maui. We have students from many ethnic backgrounds, and many languages are spoken at our school. We also have varying socioeconomic levels here. The one thing that most of them have in common is a love of reading and learning.
My awesome group of 20 second graders loves to read.
They have worked very hard and have made great gains in their reading abilities. My desire is to keep reading exciting for them.
My Project
I feel a classroom library should be a fun place to spend time. I want my students to enjoy using our library. Right now, it is one of the main areas in my classroom that needs some loving care and attention.
I want to create an organized and enticing classroom library where the kids will want to explore and find books that interest them.
We need book bins to make this happen. I would like to organize my books into book bins by topic, genre, or author. I've set it up in various ways in the past, but it is time for a remodel. Can you help?
